Show Time for Pat Munro Waste at 2022 Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival

Posted on

After a 3 year wait it was finally show time once again for our waste department at the 2022 Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. The event which took place at the end of July was a roaring success with tens of thousands converging on the Belladrum Estate to be wowed by acts such as Nile Rodgers & CHIC, The Fratellis, Daði Freyr, Emeli Sandé, Tide Lines, Passenger, Edwyn Collins, The Magic Numbers, Shed Seven, Siobhan Miller, Christone "KINGFISH" Ingram, Dreadzone, Admiral Fallow and many more!

We were delighted to be back as waste partner of choice and a core part of the festival family. Our aim as always was to make sure that the levels of waste were kept to a minimum during the festival, and we left the site clean and tidy. Over the three days, with a day setting up, we totalled over 750 hours.

As the final festival goers left over 68 tonnes of waste was cleared with the post event clear up commencing on the Sunday and finishing on the following Friday.

This year the drinking containers were made of a tougher plastic and had a £1.00 deposit charge to encourage festival goers to reuse & recycle. This definitely made a difference to the whole clean up operation with less waste on site to pick up. Bulky items including tents, sleeping bags, mats and camping chairs were sorted, cleaned and donated to charity.

Ben Murray, Waste Operations Manager at Pat Munro Waste said:

It was great to be back at Bella and the whole clean-up operation went very well. The weather played a big part as it was sunny and dry so the litter picking, and collection was easier to manage and carry-out. The festival goers used the bins provided and we were able to be nimble and on our feet throughout the three days to identify the locations that required more bins and more focus from our litter pickers. The post event clean-up was completed by 4pm on the following Friday and although there were several rain showers and wind that needed to be taken into consideration this didn’t dampen the spirits of our team.

Lesley Strang, Belladrum Event Manager said:

Belladrum 2022 saw our 13th year of working with Pat Munro on our waste services.  We couldn’t recommend them more. The team go above and beyond and really care about the project. They work with us to provide practical solutions to our waste problems and drive solutions.  Their dedication to a clean Bella and to reduce our waste is second to none.
